"I have two main memories of Al. The first was him always standing up at COMMON and giving his feedback to the IBM board. The looks on their faces as they tried to work out whether his carefully crafted speech was going to end in censure or congratulations was always worthwhile. The second was him telling me of his early life as a lingerie salesman in the family business. This I had not expected! He will be sadly missed."
