ASNA has released Monarch 4.0, a new version of its modernization solution for organizations integrating their System i platforms and web-faced RPG applications with the Microsoft .NET framework. Monarch 4.0 analyzes and integrates RPG III/ILE and CL programs, display and print files, and System i DB2 data with .NET and SQL Server. The enhanced product automates the processes required to integrate RPG programs or entire applications while preserving the original program logic and application functionality.
Monarch 4.0's new features include support for .NET Framework 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008, an enhanced agent for integrating System i DB2 files with Microsoft SQL Server, support for automatically integrating embedded SQL code, RPG cycle support for print programs, and improved RPG sub-file integration features, including folding sub-files.
"There are thousands of companies and ISVs with substantial dependence on System i RPG applications," says Eduardo Ross, president of ASNA. "Many of these organizations are constrained by the System i character-based user interface and the difficulty to add functionality and interface with modern technologies."
Ross says the ASNA System i Expansion and Modernization Service with Monarch lets businesses get closer to their customers, increase their market agility, improve their ability to innovate, and integrate better with suppliers, customers, and partners. "Monarch 4.0 is the fastest means by which organizations can rapidly transform and enhance their System i application portfolio into re-energized systems that can answer today's challenging business demands," the ASNA leader adds.
