Looking for a tool to help you externalize database logic in your RPG application? Perhaps one of these tools will fill the bill!
Recently, Kurt Anderson announced on Midrange.com's RPG400-L mailing list that he and Kurt Braman were developing a free tool called File Encapsulation Utility (FEU) to assist RPG programmers in encapsulating database access into a service program.
This free tool is currently hosted on Aaron Bartell's MowYourLawn.com. If you'd like to give it a try, check it out at mowyourlawn.com/blog/?p=108.
Thinking about this utility reminds me of a similar effort called RPGBeans, which provides the same sort of capability--encapsulation of database logic into an RPG service program. The RPGBeans tool is available at rpgbeans.com.
