Attachmate Corporation launches Synapta, a family of Web service-enablement solutions that present information from your host server as reusable Web services, helping you to produce new user interfaces and streamline application workflow.

Synapta runs on the iSeries and other platforms. Part of a larger Attachmate strategy called service-oriented host, Synapta consists of two major parts. Synapta Services Builder converts host data and logic into reusable services for new application development. Synapta Presentation Builder helps developers transform host applications into composite applications for Web deployment, in particular refacing multiple legacy applications into a consolidated user interface that supports 5250 and other emulations.

Synapta-converted applications can use your choice of WebSphere, Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), or a third-party vendor standard to develop portlets. Developers can also use Synapta to augment legacy applications with custom code and data from external databases, as well as refashion them to fit within a services-oriented environment.
