IBM Adds Features to System Storage SANs

IBM has added new features to its System Storage SAN 384B and IBM System Storage SAN 768B to help leverage 10Gbps converged enhanced Ethernet (CEE) ports while extending the value of existing FC SAN infrastructure. The FCoE 10GbE 24-port Blade (#3880) is designed to provide 24 port with 10GbE line speed; 10Gbps Short-reach or Long-reach SFP+ transceivers; and support for Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Fibre Channel, CEE, and traditional Ethernet protocols. The 8Gbps Extension Blade (#3890) is designed to address the most demanding availability, performance, manageability, and scalability requirements featuring twelve FC ports supporting up to 8Gbps link speeds; 10 Ethernet ports supporting 1GbE link speeds and up to two optional 10GbE ports; FC routing combined with SAN distance extension; FCIP capability; long-wave SFP transceivers designed to support connectivity at distances up to 4 and 10km; extended long-distance SFP transceiver designed to support connectivity at distances up to 25km; and copper SFP transceiver designed to be used with IP ports on the 8Gbps Extension Blade.

IBM Updates Lotus Web Content Management 6.1.5 Feature Pack

IBM has updated Lotus Web Content Management 6.1.5 with social software capabilities such as blogs and wikis to convert website visitors to participants and customers; reduced integration costs with Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions through out-of-the-box Document Picker to access content from ECM repositories such as FileNet, IBM Content Manager, and Quickr; integration with Web Content Integrator to provide incremental value by consuming and publishing of external content repositories; enhanced ease-of-use through authoring of content and template creation using tools such as Dreamweaver and WebDAV hooks; and enhanced rich text editor capabilities through Ephox's EditLive Editor, thus eliminating the need for separate installation.

IBM Releases WebSphere Portal V6.1.5, WebSphere Portal Express V6.1.5

WebSphere Portal V6.1.5 provides new features that improve portal performance and optimization and add support for web programming tools and techniques that make it easier to contribute to and manage the portal. Enhancements include new Page Builder and portal page template creation capabilities; optional selective portlet start-up; support for mashup creation, editing, and sharing; WebDav support for portal page browsing, editing, and storing via external web design tools; JSR 286 rendering portlet updated and enhanced with improved inline editing support; and People Picker search supports faster search results.

IBM's Implementation Services for Power Systems—Systems Director Active Energy Manager helps with the planning, implementation, and configuration of IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager on Power systems. IBM Systems Director Active Energy Manager provides the capability to monitor and manage up to four IBM POWER6 servers, offering insight into the power consumption of these servers.
