Infoprint Solutions Company, a joint venture of IBM and Ricoh, has unveiled InfoPrint Color Solution, an end-to-end AFP color printing package for the transaction and direct-mail printing industries that works with the company's family of printers for System i and other platforms.
The solution consists of several new products, including an AFP Controller for the InfoPrint 5000 production printer, AFP Consortium color-management support for the InfoPrint 4100 and 5000 printer family products, and InfoPrint Resource Installer, InfoPrint Manager, and InfoPrint ProcessDirector features for all InfoPrint printers. The Resource Installer creates AFP Color-Management Resources, which are color-management objects from the International Color Consortium, and installs them in server libraries to enable fine-tuning of output colors and greyscales. It also automates the installation of color images in server libraries. InfoPrint Manager and InfoPrint ProcessDirector aid in managing transaction, distributed, and print-on-demand printing operations as well as providing an accounting system for print resources.
InfoPrint has also announced the InfoPrint Developer Program, a testing service for business partners developing new printing environments that work with InfoPrint products. The service will help InfoPrint partners resolve output quality, performance, color-rendition, and control issues with potential new products before general release.
