LANSA has announced its planned October 15 release of LANSA Composer, a general-purpose, business-process integration solution for the System i. Composer offers a graphical environment that lets developers and analysts organize data flows, connectivity, application integration, and document outputs for business activities.
Aimed primarily at SMBs and designed to compete with enterprise application integration tools, Composer consists of client and server components. The client components include a process designer and a sequence editor that let users model business processes, map data from application schemas, and designate the order of activities via graphical icons.
After a design is set, Composer automatically generates all server source code components necessary to execute the designated processes. Composer can also replace any batch processing or semi-automated file transfers with realtime interfaces between applications and databases.Based on LANSA’s existing Integrator product, Composer generates Java code and requires JVM 1.4 and i5/OS V5R3 on the System i server to function. It operates in either batch or interactive mode. The October 15 release will be an English language version, with plans to follow that within 90 days with an upgrade that supports French and German.
