Did you ever wonder what servers and ports are used for iSeries Access File Transfer or ODBC or OLE-DB? Why won't iSeries Access install over my remote connection going through our internal firewall? And what are the port numbers if I'm using SSL for the connections?
Well, ODBC uses the Sign-On server and the Database server. The Sign-On server uses Port 8476, and for SSL it uses port 9476. The Database server uses port 8471 and for SSL it uses port 9471.
OLE-DB uses the Sign-On server, the Database server, DDM, Remote Command and yes, even Data Queue.
For information on the default port numbers and servers used for iSeries Access Functions see the IBM Informational APAR II12227. Save the link in your favorites for future reference.
