RDi is IBM's replacement for WDSc and PDM. IBM promises that this new tool runs faster than WDSc and requires fewer resources from your PC. With V6R1, IBM has completely restructured the way that the development tools for the System i are packaged. One of the results of this restructuring is that RDi is now a separate charge from the compilers (unlike WDSC, which was included with the compilers). The change has many other ramifications.
