AS/400 Evolution: How Long Can it Continue?

AS/400 Evolution: How Long Can it Continue?

Webcast recording

How many times have you heard someone say, “It’s not the same the old AS/400,” to describe today’s IBM System i (iSeries/ AS400)? Sometimes there is a need to explain that just because software written back in 1988 still works doesn’t mean that the current system is old. And yet, you almost never hear anyone talking about Unix or Windows as being old. Maybe this is because their old software no longer works.

During the first half of this FREE, one-hour webcast, Frank Soltis will focus on the evolution of the AS/400 and what we might expect to see in the near future. A question often asked is when will this end for the System i? Every other major computer system has reached a point where it is no longer possible to continue to evolve and still preserve old software.

As the IBM System i has evolved since its inception, this webcast will also address concerns about its security and the level of compliance of your System i. Attendees will learn how to easily manage security and compliance tasks efficiently and effectively.

Frank Soltis About the speaker:

Based on his Ph.D. dissertation research his architecture first appeared in the IBM System/38 and later in the IBM AS/400. He has penned two books on the platform: Inside the AS/400 in 1997 and Fortress Rochester: the Inside Story of the IBM iSeries in 2001.
