Business Computer Design [1] has released a beta Version 7 of Catapult, its automated System i report-distribution and document-management solution. Created with BCD partner ExcelSystems Software Development [2], Catapult now has a C# .NET base and a System i component written in native ILE. In addition to enhancing the solution's performance, BCD and ExcelSystems also improved Catapult's compatibility with System i servers and IBM Power Systems. Catapult V7 has a completely redesigned user interface and console to make operations more intuitive to users and to improve productivity. The companies made changes to the main console window, the configuration windows, and the spool-file selection and viewing windows. Catapult V7's performance gains also include an increased modularity to accommodate more parallelization of the workload and the removal of unnecessary repetitive actions such as downloading the same grab rule information every time there were requests for the same rule.
