U.S. Announcement: 109-755 [1]

IBM has added new features to its System Storage SAN 384B and IBM System Storage SAN 768B to help leverage 10Gbps converged enhanced Ethernet (CEE) ports while extending the value of existing FC SAN infrastructure. The FCoE 10GbE 24-port Blade (#3880) is designed to provide 24 port with 10GbE line speed; 10Gbps Short-reach or Long-reach SFP+ transceivers; and support for Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), Fibre Channel, CEE, and traditional Ethernet protocols. The 8Gbps Extension Blade (#3890) is designed to address the most demanding availability, performance, manageability, and scalability requirements featuring twelve FC ports supporting up to 8Gbps link speeds; 10 Ethernet ports supporting 1GbE link speeds and up to two optional 10GbE ports; FC routing combined with SAN distance extension; FCIP capability; long-wave SFP transceivers designed to support connectivity at distances up to 4 and 10km; extended long-distance SFP transceiver designed to support connectivity at distances up to 25km; and copper SFP transceiver designed to be used with IP ports on the 8Gbps Extension Blade.
